At Brush & Bottle, you may bring your own wine, alcohol, or whatever beverage of your choice and get to learn how to paint different images from professional artist, Valerie G. Thomas. Brush & Bottle is a monthly event in Gallipolis at The Artisan Studio and you must pay ahead of time to reserve your spot. Art supplies will be provided, but alcoholic beverages will not. Local residents line Second Avenue for the annual Gallipolis Independence Day Parade. The parade includes area royalty, high school bands, club, and sports, local businesses, organizations, churches, fire departments and so much more. Make sure to bring your lawn chair and get a good seat. After the parade, go into the park and see what everyone will be talking about. Classes taught by The Artisan Shoppe, local musicians, food vendors, crafts, information and so much more. Then find a good spot in the park or along the riverfront for the annual Fireworks Display!

Are you interested in creative writing?  Do you want to be able to share your ideas and written works?  If so, you are cordially invited to join the French City Writers’ Guild at Bossard Memorial Library. The Writers’ Guild is an open forum writing group that enables you to share your works and meet others who share your passion for writing. Our goal is to provide a comfortable place for people to discuss their written works and receive constructive feedback from the members of the Guild. Creative writing exercises will be conducted at select meetings as well. Two different meetings will be held quarterly, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The Tuesday sessions will be for all ages and friendly for a younger audience. Thursday evening sessions will be held for those 18 years of age and older, as works containing more mature content may be shared. Meetings will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on their respective nights. Light refreshments will be provided. Psychedelic Saturday 4 Class Package: $50. For four Saturdays in July, we are starting our Psychedelic Saturday series. This first class, we will be doing Rock Art and you can either keep them or we can all go and hide them in the city park. You can come whenever you want from 12:00pm-2:00pm though we do appreciate when participants reserve their spots. You can reserve your spot by coming to the shoppe, requesting an invoice or you can reserve your spot through our website!

On July 8 come to the Library and enjoy Silly Safaris Wild Animal Show. This is a high energy and zany theatrical performance complete with a variety of live animals. You will see reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds, and bugs for an experience everyone will remember. Learn about the natural world as you see and touch the animals.
Show 1 starts at 1:00pm and Show 2 starts at 3:00pm.
Due to room occupancy codes/fire regulations, will be limiting this program to the first 400 attendees at the 1:00pm show &  first 400 attendees at the 3:00 pm show.
So that everyone has a chance to see the animals, please choose either the 1:00pm Show or the 3:00pm Show. Please do not attend both programs. All ages are welcome and this event is free and open to the public.

Soccer Team Camp at URG (girls)

A team camp for girl’s high school squads is planned for July 9th-12th. Cost is $270. Fees for the residential camps include lodging, meals, training sessions and tournament play. Camp directors are URG men’s soccer head coach Scott Morrissey and women’s soccer head coach Tony Daniels. Woman’s Basketball Camp at URG

The overnight instructional camp is open to girls in grades 4-12. Cost is $285 per camper which includes lodging, meals, a certificate of participation and a camp t-shirt. Campers will also receive 24-hour supervision from coaches and counselors; lectures/discussions groups and film sessions; daily instructions on shooting, ball handling, post play and defense, and use of the school’s swimming pool. There will also be a camp store featuring drinks, snacks, pizza and Rio Grande apparel for sale each day. Veteran Rio Grande woman’s basketball head coach David Smalley, who ranks among the top 10 coaches on the active wins list with more than 500, will be the camp director. Gallipolis River Rumble Tournament Coming June 25




The Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting the American Bass Anglers Fishing Tournament on Sunday, June 25, 2017.  Take off time will begin at 6:30 am (safe light) with Weigh In in taking place at 2:30 pm at the Gallipolis Public Use Area.

The American Bass Anglers, American Fishing Tour, is the largest tournament trail in the nation for the weekend angler.  This group of anglers has been coming to Gallipolis for the past twelve years to hold their Divisional One Day Tournament, The Gallipolis River Rumble.  On Saturday evening, June 24th, the bureau will be hosting a private reception for the anglers and their families at the Colony Club from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with plenty of food and door prizes donated by local businesses.  There will also be a pre-registration meeting for anglers who will fish the tournament that evening.

“We are extremely excited to be hosting the 12th Annual Gallipolis River Rumble this year,” stated Amanda Crouse, Executive Director of the Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau, “We are making every effort to guarantee the experience is a memorable one for this group of anglers.” The winner of the tournament will receive $500.00. 

According to ABA Ohio Area Manager K. Barry Davis, anyone who is interested in participating will need an ABA membership and will need to register either at the reception on Saturday evening or show up Sunday morning an hour and a half prior to take off time.  An entry fee of $70.00 is also required.  For additional questions, interested parties may contact Barry at 614.746.1191 or via email at kbd73@aol.com or ABAOhio@aol.com.
