Psychedelic Saturday 4 Class Package: $50. For four Saturdays in July, we are starting our Psychedelic Saturday series. This third class, we will be making tie dye shirts. You can come whenever you want from 12:00pm-2:00pm though we do appreciate when participants reserve their spots. You can reserve your spot by coming to the shoppe, requesting an invoice or you can reserve your spot through our website!

Learn 2 Sew with Leo: Beginning Sewing Class

Have sewing machine but don't know how to use it? Always wanted to craft items with your machine but did not know where to start? If so, plan to attend our Learn2Sew with Leo Beginning Sewing Class. This class will be held on Saturday, July 22 (12:30pm-4:30pm) and Sunday, July 23 (1:30pm-4:30pm). Part 1 on Saturday will focus on basic sewing machine skills and reading a pattern. Part 2 on Sunday will focus on creating and finishing a tote. This class is open to those ages 8-adult. Those who are 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult helper. Please bring your own sewing machine, if possible. A few sewing machines will be available for those unable to bring one. Our instructor asks that you do not bring "toy" sewing machines. The minimum number of students needed to offer the class is 5 and the maximum number we will take is 20 students. Attendees must register online for this class.
This class will be taught by Leo Parks who has been sewing and also servicing sewing machines for more than 50 years. He will explain major mistakes in sewing, basic adjustments, maintenance, and techniques that make sewing easier and fun. The tote pattern will be provided.
Items to bring to the first class:
Scissors
One box of medium size straight pins (ball end preferred)
One spool of thread to match your material or in an accent color
Light weight material (pattern or color) for front and back of tote -- 45" wide, 1/3 yard
Light weight material (pattern or color) for sides, bottom, binding -- 45" wide, 1/4 yard
Heavy weight material (pattern or color) for straps and lining -- 45" wide, 1 yard or 54" wide, 2/3 yard
Fabric remnant for front pocket
Heavy fusible stabilizer -- 20" wide, 1/2 yard
 
Introduction to Watercolor Painting Class

Taught by Courtney Richie. No previous experience necessary. Basic option available until class time first come first served.
Price Options:
Basic $35 - includes use of my paint and brushes and take home the double sided printed page painted during the class.
Deluxe $45 - take home a Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolor paint kit and the double sided printed page painted during class.
Instruction will include:
-Brief overview of watercolor papers, brushes, pigments, and other equipment used.
-Demonstration of various watercolor techniques.
-Step by step, one-on-one walk through of each technique.
-Opportunity to be creative or to "follow the leader" as suits each individual.
-More advanced techniques presented depending on available time and student progress during the class.
-Each page used in class has the same image on each side, providing the opportunity to practice or use different color schemes.

Mexico, China, Egypt, Great Britain!! Visit the Library as we Travel Around the World.
Learn about different cultures as you listen to stories, play games, create crafts, and enjoy snacks from various countries.  As a way to "Build a Better World" and help our community, we are asking attendees to donate non-perishable/canned food items at this program. All collected items will be donated to a local food bank. A donation is not required for entry to this program, but is greatly encouraged.
This program is free, and although most suited for those ages 2-12, is open to all.

This month we will be discussing The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah. Due to high demand, we were unable to read this title in 2016 so we elected to read it this year.

You may pick up a copy of the book located on the cart in the children's play room (right outside the door to Lynn's office). Please sign the notebook sheet beside of the number listed on the paper tucked in the book. Also, please make sure to stop at the Circulation Desk and check the book out. At Brush & Bottle, you may bring your own wine, alcohol, or whatever beverage of your choice and get to learn how to paint different images from professional artist, Valerie G. Thomas. Brush & Bottle is a monthly event in Gallipolis at The Artisan Studio and you must pay ahead of time to reserve your spot. Art supplies will be provided, but alcoholic beverages will not.
